Books54751, aka Doug, is a retired educator and now a shop owner in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Originally from California, he traveled the US with his family, attended 7 different schools in 15 years, and did a stint in the Navy before attending the university in San Diego. Doug moved to Wisconsin because of employment opportunities, and because his wife from Wisconsin persuaded him it was a "nice" place. While in Wisconsin he got his masters in media technology and taught in the university system. While teaching at the university, he started his PhD in hopes of gaining tenure. However, the program he worked and advised students at the university was absorbed and downsized, he never finished his PhD. Doug went on to teach in the local school district for 18+ years and then retired.
Doug is currently the owner of a homebrew and winemaking shop. He considers this an extension of his work in education- he can tutor/mentor new fermenting hobbyists. He started fermenting in the mid-70s and it has been his hobby since.
