Awaken Cafe is a great cafe on Broadway in downtown. They used to be located on 14th St. east of Broadway, but shut down in 2010. After an extended community fundraising campaign, the cafe reopened in a much larger space on Broadway near the intersection with 15th St. They have food, coffee, alcohol, and also host events.
Their bagels come from Beauty's and their donuts are from Pepples.
Awaken was the recipient of the East Bay Express Best Cafe Readers' Poll Award in 2014 and 2015. They also received the Best Toast Award from the editors.
Awaken cafe does not offer free wifi.
