Creedmoor Road is a major thoroughfare traveling north and south in the city of Raleigh. The majority of the route follows NC 50.

Route Description

Creedmoor Road begins as a four-lane road at Parklake Avenue opposite the north end of Edward's Mill Road. The roadway travels northeast past Crabtree Valley Mall, then has an intersection with US 70/Glenwood Avenue, where NC 50 joins the roadway. Creedmoor Road turns to the north as an urban boulevard with a landscaped median in a largely commercial area. After an interchange with I-540, Creedmoor Road downgrades to a two-lane undivided road as it leaves Raleigh. Further up the road, NC 50 has an intersection with NC 98 and travels northwest through the Falls Lake Recreation Area. The Creedmoor Road designation ends at Old Weaver Road as NC 50 crosses the Wake/Granville County line.

Projects

A long-term vision for the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the North Carolina Department of Transportation calls for Creedmoor Road to be widened from I-540 to the city of Creedmoor. The first segment planned for additional lanes extends from I-540 to NC 98. In addition to widening the road to four lanes with a median, improvements being considered include converting the I-540 interchange into a diverging diamond interchange and upgrading most conventional intersections into superstreets. The $92.3 million project will begin land aquisition in 2021, with construction commencing in 2024.
