Tygart Valley Growers' Association is committed to providing quality foods grown locally and environmental stewardship. Several members use high tunnel gardening techniques, allowing them to extend the normal growing season, with a focus on sustainable agriculture. Education, fellowship and sharing ideas are part of TVGA monthly meetings as well as developing and marketing strategies to increase the presence of locally grown food in area restaurants and schools, providing both nutrition and economic investment in the region.

Programs and Projects: TVGA participates in the WV Farm-to-School program, the Market Place, and has developed a Good Agricultural Practices Brochure to promote food safety as well as identify policy issues and actions needed for the sustainability of small farms in West Virginia. A national program, the "Wholesale Success" workshop was sponsored in collaboration with WVU Extension Barbour County and the Value Chain Cluster Initiative to help small farmers from Barbour, Harrison, Tucker, Upshur and Randolph counties provide fresh and healthy foods for their communities while simultaneously developing their businesses.
