Fairview Park

Located approximately one mile north of the Main and College intersection, Fairview Park is a forty-five acre park site, twenty-five of the acres are leased from McLean County. The park contains lighted softball field and tennis courts, a large picnic shelter that is available for reservations, five smaller picnic shelters, playground equipment in different locations throughout the park, and a new restroom facility which opened in the spring of 2008. The north tennis courts have been converted into a lighted in-line skating and skate board area that was recently renovated and upgraded in 2007.

Fairview Skate Park

The skate park at Fairview is located on the north tennis courts and Fairview park, located at 949 N. Main Streen in Normal. The skate area was recently renovated and upgraded in spring 2007. Among the recent improvements are a connecting sidewalk and drinking fountain. The park is outdoors, fenced in, and the terrain consists of asphalt ground surface(wear a shirt unless you want to lose some skin), steel surfaced ramps, as well as Skatewave prefab obstacles. Helmets and pads are highly recommended but are not required to skate. Also, there is no cost to skate at Fairview. The park consists of a seven foot quarter pipe and a five foot quarter pipe with a huge pyramid between. The pyramid has a round handrail and a flat handrail as well as a small and large launch ramp. There are many other obstacles including various boxes, manual pads, and adjustable rails. Another highlight is the 4 foot half pipe, which rides very smoothly. There are no supervisors of any kind on duty and the Town of Normal assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries from use of these amenities. skatepark.bmp
