The Hawks Nest Game Room is a student area in Heartland Community College's Student Commons Building on 1500 W. Raab Rd. in Normal, IL. This room, across from the Library and Heartland Café, is a room for Heartland students to hang out, chat with friends or other students, play games (video games and table games), or work on their school work.

This game room started construction near the final weeks of the Fall 2010 semester at Heartland Community College. It is located at the former location of Heartland Community College's Bookstore. The room was under construction during winter break and during the week of New Year's Day 2011. The room was finished in early January 2011. The Hawks Nest Game Room was opened to Heartland students on the first day of the Spring 2011 semester on Monday, January 10, 2011.

The Hawks Nest Game Room has two HDTVs with cable T.V., and each T.V. station has a Playstation 3 video game console or a Nintendo Wii video game console. Students have to give their Heartland Student I.D. to play the video game consoles. Heartland students can bring their own Nintendo Wii or Playstation 3 games to play on the Hawks Nest Game Room's PS3 or Wii, or play one of the game room's PS3 or Wii games. But if they bring their own games, they need to get their own game disc back from one of the game room staff before they leave, or they will lose their game disc. If there are people playing on the video game console and another person wants to play soon, they are given 1 hour to play until the next person gets their turn. They also have an air hockey table, and a billiards table in the room. Students have to give their Heartland Student I.D. to play on the air hockey or billiards tables. They provide the equipment for students who want to play air hockey or billiards.

The Hawks Nest Game Room also have computers for Heartland students to get on to do different stuff. They have 11 computers in the game room, so only 11 students can use them. Students can work on their assignments or homework, go on the Internet, or chat with their online friends. But they also have to follow rules when they go on the computer.

Heartland students have to follow rules when they are in the game room, or they can't go to the Hawks Game Room again. Students have to do things school-related if they go on the Internet, they can't use bad behavior in the game room, and they can bring food and drinks, but they can't eat or drink near the electrical equipment. Once students are ready to leave, if they were playing on a video game console, or playing on the air hockey table or billiards table, they need to ask the Game Room staff to return their game disc and/or their student I.D.
