The Poetry Foundation (61 W. Superior) publishes Poetry Magazine, founded by Harriet Monroe in 1912, and is home to a public garden, a 30,000-volume library, a gallery, a performance space, and the publication and performing offices. Designed by local architect John Ronan, the eco-friendly building opened in June 2011 and is meant to work as a poem in its own right, featuring several different winding entrances, optical illusion floors, and plenty of glass and light.
