Prairie Elementary is part of the Urbana School District 116 and serves grades K through 5.  It was built in 1965 and the school colors are red, white, and blue. The school is one of two elementary schools in the district that is home to the Spanish Dual Language program.  In the 2015-2016 school year, the name was changed to Dr. Preston L. Williams Jr. Elementary School.
