Photo courtesy of Bows CollectiveArt Lessing and the Flower Vato is a psychedelic rock band from Sacramento that has played extensively in Davis and the Davis region, sharing bills with other local acts like Gentleman Surfer, Pregnant, Antlers, and San Kazakgascar, regional acts like Sic Alps, and many touring acts as well. Sometimes "Art" (Dan Quillan) plays on his own under the moniker Art Lessing, or as the Art Lessing Quartet. The band has appeared at Bike Forth, Delta of Venus, the Dam Haus, Chillanova, G Street Pub, the Natsoulas Gallery, and Third Space Art Collective in Davis and venues like Bows & Arrows, Bricka Bracka, The Hub, Java Lounge, Luigi's Fungarden, Luna's Cafe, The Press Club, Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen, and The Witch Dome in Sacramento. They have played Live in Studio A at KDVS and have releases on KDVS Recordings. They also appear on various KDVS Fundraiser compilations. They have played at events like Davis Music Fest, the Whole Earth Festival, Second Saturdays in Sac, the Spring Ball at the Horse Cow art complex in West Sacramento, and NorCal NoiseFest. Other credits include live performances on KPFA 94.1 FM in Berkeley. They have received nominations from local KCRA 3 for Best Local Band.
