Beckett Hall, the namesake of Beckett Hall Circle, is a former dorm located on campus at UC Davis. It was built in 1951. A men's dorm, in 1964 on February 1st, KDVS started broadcasting from the original studio located in the laundry room. They used the dorm's electrical wiring to transmit, so Beckett Hall was also the original KDVS transmitter.
