A small pikeminnow from Putah Creek. Sacramento Pikeminnow or Squawfish (Ptychocheilus grandis) can be found in Putah Creek and Cache Creek watersheds. Considered by many as a non-game fish, pikeminnow provide a decent sport on light gear. Found in low to mid-elevation streams and rivers, pikeminnow feed on insects, small fish, and amphibians. Pikeminnow can reach lengths of up to three feet but are commonly found up to 16 inches.
