In November 2011, Sue McCormick was chosen by Dave Bing as the director of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department . McCormick was Public Services Area Administrator for the City of Ann Arbor, and is a member of the board of the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority.

McCormick was born in the UP and got her BS from Lyman Briggs College and Michigan State University. She spent 22 years on the Lansing Board of Water and Light, where she was (over time) Environmental Chemist, Environmental Laboratory Manager, Manager of Water and Steam Planning, Water Technical Support Manager and Business Development Manager. She has served as a director of the American Water Works Association. She joined the City of Ann Arbor in January 2001.
