The primary goal of this project is to see how much food waste occurred in the UW-Stout Commons. We conducted a survey about food waste in the UW-Stout Campus. Here are the responses to the questions.

    1. Yes: 16.67%

    2. No: 83.3%

  4. Do you think you waste food?

    1. Yes: 73.3%

    2. No: 26.67%

  5. If you were to waste food, why?

    1. I got full: 26.67%

    2. I took too much: 36.67%

    3. I didn’t like the food: 23.3%

    4. I didn’t have time to finish my meal: 3.3%

    5. Other: 10% : My produce often goes bad before I get a chance to eat it

  6. Have you noticed food waste on campus dining locations?

    1. Yes: 100%

    2. No: 0%

  7. Did your guardians enforce finishing your plate when you were younger?

    1. Yes: 76.67%

    2. No: 23.3%

  8. Any other thoughts on food waste on campus, or how we can prevent it?

  • I have worked in the dish room, people take to much or they don't like it. People need to learn how big their stomachs are. 

  • Maybe educate people on smaller portion size and mindful eating. 

  • Encourage going up for seconds to the dining services.
