Optometrist recommendations

I go to “Eye Sight Solutions Optometry”, 644 San Antonio Road in Mountain View for eye exams & eyeglasses.  Located in the same shopping center with Sprouts & CVS. Dr. Yura Kim is very good. 650 948-3260.- Herb Perry on Anna Ave.

I really like Allison Zaum at https://www.pacificeyecareoptometry.com. Have been with her for many years, and it's really close. My wife has used the Costco optometrist and was happy with their services. Andre on Jewell

James Tearse in RC is an outstanding ophthalmologist and specializes in cataracts and dry eye. His exams are incredibly thorough. Can't recommend him (and his colleague) more highly. https://www.tearsemd.com/  Leane on Dell

I got my prescription filled with George at Benchworks Optical over by El Camino hospital. It cost a fraction of what I spent at Costco and he has lots of choices of frames. He's a one man show with a funky little shop, but he is super nice and the price is excellent. https://www.alignable.com/mountain-view-ca/benchworks-optical   ~Leane on Dell

I highly recommend Jennifer at - shorelineoptometry.com  She is highly professional and kind. I highly recommend not to go dr. Beer’s clinic. I had very bad experience there before.  Ayelet

Ben Threlkeld and Cambridge Optometry on Cambridge in Palo Alto.  We have been with them for a long time and like them.  Good luck!  Andy

Dr Daniel Beers-650 961-2585-1174 Castro MV  Highly recommend Dr Beers.....Pete

I've been going to Dr. Brent Chinn for many years at the Mountain View location (just next to CVS in the same shopping center as Panera).http://www.precisioneyes.com – Sarah on Adele

Costco is the nearest place to go. Mary on Victory

Dr. Ngo in Palo Alto Town and Country, Monica & Bob

Highly recommend Dr. Jabina Ramde at Eye Lite Optometry in Los Altos! She is so smart, patient and professional, just a wonderful eye examination experience. And I only get my glasses from them, I prefer to work with either Maria or Vicky to choose frames. I love this place and all the ladies who work there are super nice and fun to be around. They are extremely COVID-careful too.

Dr. Jabina Ramde, Owner, Eye Lite Optometry, Inc., 286 State Street, Los Altos, CA 94022, 650-948-6910, https://www.eyeliteoptometry.net, MARIA, optometric assistant-off on Fridays, VICKY, optometric assistant-off on Tuesdays. Margo on Diablo

  • I have been going, for many years, to Jennifer Wang @ Silicon Valley Optical. She's just off 85 on Fremont.

  • Shobha Tandon, MD, 650-967-0555; very good with my mentally handicapped daughter.

  • I really like Dr. Clark in the shopping center at San Antonio and El Camino next to Longs. Both my husband and I go there. Alan Clark, O.D., 644 San Antonio, T:(650) 948-3260.

  • Lisa Berkowitz — she is in the Palo Alto Town and Country next to For Eyes.

  • We have used Los Altos Optometric for years. Any of the optometrists there are excellent. (650) 941-4482.

  • I go to Mountain View Optometry on Castro and see Dr. Schwaderer. I just ordered my glasses yesterday. They have a nice selection of frames and they are close by. My first choice would be Joe Torres, SF, but not as convenient unless you work in the City.

Fast eyeglass lens replacements (or not):

I asked the neighborhood if anyone could recommend a local shop that could replace the lenses in my eyeglass frames in an hour or two, and these are the results:

  • Costco Optical - There were several recommendations for this one, but when I called, they said it would take 10-12 business days. It was half the price of Lenscrafters, though.

  • Dr. Alan Clark (948-3260), located in the shopping center at San Antonio and El Camino (644 San Antonio), between Long’s Drugs and Rasputin Records. (also recommended above)

  • I recommend Los Altos Optometric in downtown LosAltos. They are very accommodating, even just for lenses. However, you might get seduced by the fantastic selection of frames there! You can also get eye exams if you don't need an ophthalmologist, from Dr. Pesner, the owner/optometrist. They also take VSP insurance, if you have that, as I do. - Margo

  • Lenscrafters - I went there, and my glasses were ready in 1 hour. They seemed to have a very large selection of frames, which I did not need, and options for light-weight lenses, scratch resistence, and glare prevention. I went with the featherweights, which have good scratch resistence, too. I didn't get the glare prevention, because it was quite a bit more expensive. I highly recommend this place, especially if you're short of time. - cj
