Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park is a 3,000-acre state park located 26 miles northeast of Nevada City, at the site of California's largest hydraulic mine. It showcases massive environmental devastation caused by hydraulic mining in the 19th century. It also features a campground, group camp, miner's cabins, and a 7,847-foot bedrock tunnel that served as a drain for the mine. Hiking trails available at the park include the 556-foot-long Hiller Tunnel, built to channel water for the mine.
