Hansen Coffee is a wholesale coffee roaster that dates back to 1894. It was founded by John Cilius Hansen, who immigrated from Denmark in the 1890s.
It was run by his son, Carl Hilmer Hansen, then by his son, John "Jack" Hansen until Jack's retirement in 1977. It is still run by the Hansen family.
The business is at 327 Clay St. near Jack London Square. It has a cool neon and painted sign visible from BART between 12th St. and West Oakland.
