Although the word "quadrant" in any other city would indicate that there are four (4) sections, in Portland there are five (5) quadrants. This naming structure primarily exists to entertain newcomers and tourists. The five quadrants of Portland are North, Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast.
