Champ T. Stuart Sr. was born in 1810 and died in 1884.  He is buried in the Powhatan cemetery.

Facts

In 1844, Stuart belonged to the Whig Party.¹

In 1859, Stuart advertised himself as a "receiving and forwarding merchant" on the bank of Black River, selling dry goods, groceries, hardware, and other goods.²

Champ Stuart was involved in local politics and operated a dry goods store.
