They are known as the Serial Diners.
Every Friday evening, a group of people and strangers meet at a different Toronto restaurant and break bread.
For years they have been visiting EVERY restaurant listed in the Yellow Pages, once a week, alphabetically.
Serial Diners' founder Jason Taniguchi.
They are currently working their way through restaurants whose names begins with the letter L.
The Serial Diners were founded on November 24, 1989 when they visited the AC Ranch Cafe on St. Clair Avenue West.
In the 1,018 weeks in which they have been in existence, 727 individuals have joined them, of whom 296 have attended more than one sitting.
The Diners have been featured in all Toronto english-language newspapers with the exception of NOW magazine, and have also received coverage by the Wall Street Journal, MacLeans, Marketing Magazine and TIME Magazine.
Generally considered to be the first alphabetic dining group in the world (there is a unconfirmed rumour that this was tried in New York City in the 1950s or 1960s), the Serial Diners' methods have been copied by groups across Canada, the United States, and most recently in China and Sweden.
Jason Taniguchi helped launch Vancouver Serial Diners' a while back, but we ain't sure if it's still going strong out on the Left Coast.
Serial Diners meets every Friday at the designated restaurant at 6:00 p.m.
The Silver Lenas
The Silver Lenas are the Serial Diners answer to the Oscars.
