ALEXANDER, L/COR. ALBERT Reg. # 657897

Albert Alexander was born July 1, 1895, the son of Edward Herbert Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Campbell.

 

Albert englisted in the 162nd in the Burks Falls on April 17, 1916.

At the time of the 1901 census, the family was   identified as living in Croft Township. At the time of the 1911 census, the family was identified as living in Ryerson Twp. on Lot 14, Concession 5.

At the time of enlistment, Albert identified that the family lived at Royston, in Ryerson Twp.

 

Albert arrived in England on November 11, 1916 on the S.S. Caronia.

He transferred from the 162nd to the 36th Reserve Battalion to the 2nd Canadian Pioneers.

In August of 1917 he was hospitalized due to what was termed PUO (Pyrexia - of unknown origin, a fever of an undetermined cause). He returned to the Field and in May and was awarded the Good Conduct Badge.

In June/July he was transferred to the 6th Battalion, Canadian Engineers.

On September 24, 1918 he was wounded. He died of his wounds on September 27, 1918.

 

 

Albert died of a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
