Charles Christian Sollman was born June 3, 1897 in Ryerson Twp., the son of Michael Sollman and Lucy Louise Brandt.

At the time of the 1901 and 1911 censuses, the family was identified as living in Ryerson Twp. – with the family specifically identified on Lot 5 Concession 7.

Chris married Agnes Olive Gertrude Courvoisier on April 13, 1921 in Burks Falls. Chris identified that he was a farmer.

Chris and Agnes had 6 children at least two of whom were identified as born at Lake Cecebe.

Chris died June 15, 1992 at South River.

Chris signed up he identified his place of birth as being near Burks Falls and that he was a farmer.

In his discharge certificate, Chris was identified as having enlisted in Bracebridge on November 16, 1917 in the 2nd C.O.R.

He was discharged April 11, 1919.

He served in the 2nd C.M.R. (Canadian Mounted Rifles - mounted soldiers originally, later used largely as infantry)

Chris arrived in England on May 27, 1918 with the 3rd Reserve Battalion.

In October he transferred to the 2nd C.M.R. in the Field.

He returned to Canada in April 1919.
